DUST ...and there
it was. DUST !! Already last year I had the same problem on my old Canon 300D. Back then to be honest I was really surprised, as I had not heard of this common problem on DSLRs before and never really paid close attention either.... So I tried my luck with some Q-Tips - fiddling around clumsily until I got the Dust away. But this was far from being perfect and it was most likely a matter of luck that I succeeded in the end. After reading through various forums and homepages I found out that a combination of some special cloth and Methanol Alcohol works best.
I purchased it online from Micro-tools for not much money. Instead of describing lengthily how you should swap and turn etc... here a link to some excellent instructions of how to do it. Important things to consider and what needs to be avoided by all means. http://www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com/index.html Browsing through many forums I read that a lot of people say you should not touch your sensor !! What the heck, I have done it and works just fine. It did with the Canon 300d and it worked with my Canon 30d without destroying them :-) Naturally I do not take any responsibility if anybody follows my advice here. This is merely a report of how I handled the crisis situation ! Good Luck. |
